Daycare
Day camp can help dogs learn social skills, curb separation anxiety, and provide needed daily exercise. At Camp Canine we have a great day camp program. Our facility has over one and a half acres of play areas, and we also have an inside gym and community room for the campers' use. We offer daycare 7 days a week and only close on occasion for holiday hours.

A Day Camper's Day

During the day, the campers socialize with one another and our staff is interactive with them. This program is a separate routine from overnight camp, since the day campers do not need meals. Our day starts at 7am and goes until 6pm. You are not required to have your camper here the entire time-- these are just the maximum times during the day. Day campers are not allotted rooms, but if quiet rest is needed, a room can be provided. Since we are knowledgeable in socialization, we know the majority of the campers will regulate themselves in playtime and take naps as they choose. Any given day you can see day campers taking naps in their groups. Exceptions to this may be a young camper that may need some quiet time if they are not taking time to slow down during the day, or an older camper that may need to rest in a quiet place. Since we watch our campers closely, we know their individual needs.

Playgroup Management

Campers are divided based on size and/or temperament. Therefore, you may see a smaller camper with medium-sized campers, or you may see a bigger camper with the little ones. These choices are made based on the campers' personalities, play-styles, and comfort levels. We want each individual camper to feel relaxed and comfortable.

Playgroup Personalities

We do have groups divided on a daily basis; however, in some cases we have had to ask parents to not come on certain days due to particular campers' personalities that do not get along.

You might think “just put them in another group” - not so easy if you want the best harmony for all campers! It can cause other campers to feel stress if one camper is really stressed by another. They still realize that camper is in the facility. So one or possibly both campers maintain a level of stress, which they then bring into both play groups causing the possibility of aggression or onset of minor health issues from stress. That’s just not fair to anyone! So, if campers are not getting along, the last one added to a day may be asked to switch days for future day care visits.

This is one reason we do not allow drop-in day care. It’s just not fair to the campers to have fellow campers here that may not care for one another. At times when two campers like this may be staying overnight…well, we have our work cut out for us. We do everything we can to give both campers all they need by keeping each other out of sight and out of mind.

Friendly Reminder

Please discuss with us any new or odd behaviors you have seen at home. Remember also that campers may get scratched and roughed up a little when playing, just as human children on a playground can get scratches and bumps from running and wrestling. Please expect to see these types of things on occasion. Our day camp counselor will make you aware of any active aggression; otherwise do not be alarmed by scratches or minor teeth marks. Any noticeable issues are discussed with parents.

Bringing Your Camper

Even as a member, drop-in daycare is still not a preferred method for the happiness of the campers. Daycare reservations should be made in advance. However if you have an emergency situation that arises late evening please send and email or leave a voicemail for the front desk and then come on and we will take your camper.

Arrival - Arrive at day camp at your scheduled time.
We accept both full-day and half-day campers during the designated hours. Full day hours are 7AM-6PM. Half day hours are either 7AM-1PM or 1PM-6PM. No campers are admitted prior to 7AM. Late pick up 6-7PM is available, but must be scheduled ahead of time or a late fee will be incurred. Pick ups 7-8PM, may be scheduled ahead of time and will be $15 for non-members

or $10 for members.

Dressing - Please do not bring your camper to camp with extra clothing or jewelry. We remove all articles before sending your camper out to play. All campers are dressed and undressed in the entrance way. Extra items slow down this process. It is fine to bring a sweater or coat for your camper, but please do not bring anything that is precious or of sentimental value. Remember that the campers are romping and playing and accidents or tears may happen. Camp Canine is not responsible for lost or damaged items.

Feedings - Best practices dictate that for the health of canines, food must be allowed to digest before engaging in play and activities. If your camper has breakfast in the morning (or lunch before half-day day camp), please allow enough time between feeding and arrival for the food to digest. We do not typically feed day campers.

Communication - Please let the camp counselors know upon arrival if you have noticed any strange behavior or physical anomalies on your camper. The counselor will evaluate the situation and make a judgment call about the daycare day. Alternately, the counselor will keep an extra watchful eye for signs that may indicate stress or discomfort.

Visitation - If you would like to see how your camper interacts with the pack, make arrangements with the office staff to stop by for a visit during your camper's day. You will be invited to watch the interaction on one of our video cameras. We do not allow customers into the play areas or playgroups for safety reasons.

Pickup - Arrive promptly to pick up your camper. Daycare closes at 6pm and late pickups will either be charged a babysitting fee or an overnight stay fee, as appropriate. If you know you are running late, call the office ahead of time. We will try to work with you to ensure that your camper is available for pick up when you arrive.

Baths, Nails, & Brush Outs

Camp counselors will bathe your camper with a great smelling, long lasting shampoo, clean their ears, trim their nails, and give them a good brushing. Baths, nails, and brush outs are available for daycampers. This must be scheduled in advance (at least 24 hours notice) over the phone or through email. The camper must either attend afternoon half day daycare or full day daycare, pick up would be 4-6pm. Counselors complete baths in the early afternoon and due to our daily schedule, morning baths are not available. Prices vary due to size, please read the information below.
