Overnight Camp at Camp Canine!
We know that it is stressful for any dog to be away from his family pack regardless of how nice the new environment may be. Because of this we have designed a daily routine to care for both physical and psychological needs and to ease the stress.
A Day in the Life...
Our day starts at 7AM. All campers are taken out for morning bathroom needs. If they eat in the morning, then breakfast is fed. After an hour of rest, we start the group playtimes. Around 10 AM, campers are grouped by size and temperament for playtimes. The groups are either outside in our large play areas or inside in the gym or community room. The weather determines the areas of play. Everyone gets a minimum of 5-7 hours per day in playtime and the playgroups are monitored at all times. Around 3:30 PM all campers have time to settle down in their room before dinner. We give them a minimum of one hour to relax before evening feedings begin at 5:00pm. At 8 PM we begin the last outings for bathroom visits, which includes a little more social time with their friends. After all campers are in for the night the staff tops off all water bowls, then tells everyone good night and they usually finish around 11 PM. This schedule is the same 365 days of the year. We do not alter the camper’s schedule. On holidays we close the business office on certain days to allow our counselors uninterrupted time with the overnight campers.
Value Added & Extra Activities
All overnight campers are sent home with “letters from camp” which are honest notes on how your camper did. Counselors are available to discuss the visit if you have any questions. We also keep all records of medications administered, bathroom duties, eating and behavior for one year after each visit.
We also have extracurricular activities for even more one-on-one time. We have found campers do enjoy these activities but extras are certainly not necessary. The extracurricular activities are an additional cost because it takes additional staffing.
Friendly Reminder
Campers may get scratched and roughed up a little when playing. Just as human children on a playground, they can get scratches and bumps from running and wrestling. Please expect to see these types of things on occasion. Our day camp counselor will make you aware of any active aggression; otherwise do not be alarmed by scratches or minor teeth marks. Any noticeable issues are discussed with parents.
