Extra Activities for Our Campers
Mountain Hikes are a favorite at Camp. Before leaving the safety of the secured camp perimeter the Campers get double leashed with harnesses and martingale collars for safety. Staff double check their radio communication. The camper is attached, via arm strap to the counselor and leashes cannot be dropped. So even if the human passes out, breaks a leg or just wants a nap in the woods your camper would be forced to sit with their lifeless body until help arrived.
Once a safety check of equipment is in place…off they go.
Although we do not have “real” mountains, we have a mini mountain (okay a steep hill but don’t tell them) that runs on the backside of our property alongside a creek that many take advantage of going right in for a great water experience.
Shy and adventurous campers alike enjoy the mountain hike! The campers get a chance to smell, frolic, water dance, and log climb--if they choose to! Some campers just appreciate the serenity of the outing. Others discover their primal-selves and zero in on all the nature that abounds. |
